FOR NOTHING IS SECRET
Stockton Helbing, drummer with the late Maynard Ferguson, guides a septet through dynamic, contemporary jazz tunes on his second outing. The ensemble's instrumental color is noteworthy, and though Helbing's playing on the mellower tunes could benefit from more authority, uptempo he lays a solid foundation, spiced with tasty fills.(www.stocktonhelbing.com)
